This piece is inspired by the roof finials on many Thai temples, called lamyongs. The shape is apparently reminiscent of a cobra or naga. I thought these were just so graceful and elegant. Visiting the Thai Buddhist temples was a highlight for me, as they are just so beautiful and artistic in their own right.
